Stranded on Eurovision Castaways!

We recently had the honor to be a part of ESC Insight’s excellent Eurovision Castaway series! Join us and Ellie Chalkley as we offer eight songs that we want to take with us onto Île de Bezençon and Ellie grills us to defend our choices. Did you know we have more to say about Donny Montell? WE DO and you can hear it here.

We’ll be back with the latest in our Eurovision Lemurs Seal of Approval series very soon, and then before we all know it, we’ll be knee-deep in national final series! It’s getting real!

Remembering Daniel Gould

We are absolutely gutted to learn that Daniel Gould has passed away. His website Sofabet influenced us greatly when we began to expand our Eurovision blogging horizons. He was an intelligent, thought-provoking writer, and we have absorbed a goodly amount of his insight into our own writing. It’s hard to imagine a Eurovision season with him. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

Wild Dances, Wild Floor Routine

We’ve gotten a few hits lately from people searching for U.S. gymnast Jordyn Wieber’s floor routine music, which is 2004 Eurovision winner “Wild Dances” by Ruslana. We tweeted about this back in September:

We’re posting this here since we hadn’t mentioned it on the blog and wanted to make sure everyone got the information they’re looking for. (I’m a librarian. It’s my job.)

Also, you should totally follow us on Twitter.

If you are getting antsy about Eurovision like I am, then you can start catching the qualifying rounds on esctv. For example, both the Azerbaijan and ESTONIA!!!!! national selections will be shown on February 2. To watch, you’ll need to download the Octoshape plug-in, but it is so worth it.
